WELCOME TO THE MILE HIGH MAGICIANS SOCIETY
The Mile High Magicians Society is a Denver-based association of magical enthusiasts dedicated to enjoying, appreciating and advancing the art of magic. Our performing members share their magic in many ways: From entertaining family, friends and neighbors, to street performances, to children’s birthday parties, at restaurants and banquets, at corporate events and on the speaking platform.
We meet monthly and regularly arrange for first-rate performers from around the world to perform and lecture for our members. We are a local chapter of both international magic organizations, the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) #131 and the Society of American Magicians (SAM) Earl Reum Assembly #37.

June was an amazing month of magic in the Mile High City. On June 18th, I presented two 30-minute magic shows at Children’s Haven. In return for the show, they let us use the school for several meeting each year, including EVENING OF ODD, FLEA MARKET and several lectures. Also, on June 25th, I had the honor to present a 45-minute show for the Residents at RiverPointe Senior Center. In return for that show, they let us use their facility – FREE OF CHARGE. The MHM presented its first annual People’s Choice Contest on Tuesday, June 24th at Gnarly’s Theater in Golden. We had a great audience turn-out as 9 magicians presented their best material to win the most votes. I was the host and introduced each of the performers that included Jason Fye, Melody Berg, David Berg, Charly Wonder, Stuart Hayner, Nick Lathrop, Shane Cohen, James Lopez and Mark Weidhaas. And…. The People’s Choice winner is Shane Cohen. Congratulations Shane!
Now, referring to earlier in the month, on Thursday, June 5th we hosted a Zoom session to report on the status of the branding and repositioning process we have been working on. The next step is up to the next task force to take all the information gathered and create the processes and begin implementing specific ideas. Things move slower in the summer. However, you will continue to see great ideas implemented over the next few months and beyond. There is NO 2nd Thursday meeting in July. However, we do have a field trip planned for Saturday, July 12th 3:00-6:30pm to the new Magic Manor in Sedalia.

The Mile High Magicians had the opportunity to host Todd Oliver’s lecture before his three shows at the Theatre of Dreams in Castle Rock, Colorado. He brought out his talking dog, Irving. His dog gave his perspective and made remarks at Todd’s expense. He also brought along a couple of additional figure friends who told jokes.
The rest of the lecture was about his experiences traveling the country performing as a ventriloquist and magician. He prefers working with children as opposed to corporate gigs or fairs due to differences in the audience and the environment. Some promoters scammed him so, he warned us about doing business with shady individuals. One of the most important aspects of being a performer is professionalism. He spoke about the importance of dressing appropriately, arriving an hour early, rehearsing, and having reliable gear. Our members were able to ask him questions to apply these lessons to their shows. We want to thank Todd Oliver for visiting our club and sharing his experiences.
