About the Lecturer
Javi Benitez Lecture
Born in Sevilla, Javi Benitez spent years building a successful career as a Creative Director before making a decision most people would consider reckless — walking away from it entirely to dedicate his life to the art of magic. The gamble paid off. He is now one of the most decorated and respected close-up magicians working anywhere in the world.
As the last disciple of the legendary Arturo de Ascanio, and a long-time collaborator of Juan Tamariz, Javi carries forward a lineage of Spanish card magic that has produced some of the most sophisticated thinking about sleight of hand ever committed to print. He has performed across Europe, Japan, the USA, China, Argentina, and beyond — and served as President of the Spanish Magic Society for six years.
Javi’s lecture is not a collection of tricks. It is a window into a complete philosophy of performance — the invisible art of naturalness, timing, and psychological precision that transforms a good card trick into a moment someone will talk about for years. Techniques passed down through Ascanio’s school, rarely shared outside of Spain, are central to what he will teach.

Lecture Curriculum
What You’ll Learn
The Ambitious Card — Complete System
His signature routine performed in full, with complete methodology, structure, and the psychological thinking that makes it FISM-level strong.
Advanced Card Controls
The techniques used in his award-winning performances — approaches so natural they simply don't register as sleight of hand, even to fellow magicians.
Close-Up Magic for Stage
How to structure intimate card magic so it lands in larger settings — bridging the gap between a table and a spotlight without losing any of its impact.
Ascanio's Philosophy of Invisibility
Rarely shared outside of Spain — the principles of naturalness and timing passed down directly from one of magic's great masters. This alone is worth the afternoon.
Audience Psychology
Engineering genuine astonishment — how to structure moments so that audiences don't recover before the climax, and how to make reactions feel inevitable rather than performed.
Q&A with Javi
